Meet Renee Minx
I am a somatic-focused trauma therapist. Therapy is my great passion in life and I have endless interest in your stories, struggles and triumphs. It would be a privilege to hear your story. Fostering a healthy and trusting therapeutic relationship will be a very important part of the process. I utilize techniques such as EMDR, IFS, somatic experiencing and mindfulness to create an individualized treatment plan just for YOU and your needs! I have learned so much through academia/work experience but also through the lived experience of healing from my own history of trauma, substance use, anxiety and depression.

EMDR therapy, Mindfulness (including Somatic Experiencing) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) have all been thoroughly researched and have been proven to be helpful for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and general stress levels.
These interventions can help change the brain and body in ways that allow the client to have more choice, increase ability to manage stress, improve quality of relationships, decrease depressive symptoms, improve general health, increase energy level, decrease addictive symptoms and improve academic/work performance.

mindfulness
When our mind drifts to the past or the future, it is important to learn how to bring ourselves back to the present moment using mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and meditation techniques. EMDR is an effective body and mind therapy. It’s important to clear out traumatic or unhelpful past memories utilizing EMDR therapy so that we can show up in the present as confident and calmly as we want to. The past affects the present in many ways, especially if we are noticing we are either over or under-reacting in any given situation. Read more

ifs
Internal family systems (IFS) helps us gain awareness of the different parts of ourselves. It is a true mind, body, spirit whole body approach. Internal family systems utilizes visualization practices to get to know all our protectors, managers, firefighters and exiles. The goal is to integrate all of our parts and heal the wounded parts of ourselves. Read more
