what is reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words-Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.” A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.

what is a reiki session like?

Before the Reiki session the client will be asked to read over and sign a consent form. Next, the Reiki certified practitioner will ask if there are any physical or emotional ailments that the client would like to have focused on in the session. A Reiki session is offered to a fully clothed recipient who is sitting comfortably in a chair. During the session, the Reiki practitioner will hover their hands over a series of strategic locations on the body’s energetic meridians. The placement of the hands will never be intrusive or inappropriate. After the 30 or 60 minute session, the Reiki practitioner will tell the client where they felt energy was blocked and may offer some mindfulness techniques. It is recommended to drink lots of water after a session.

“So coming from someone who was initially highly skeptical regarding energy clearance, I fully anticipated walking out of the Reiki session feeling nothing. I was definitely wrong. My session with Renee was extremely calming and cathartic, and I was thoroughly impressed at Renee’s knowledge regarding energy healing. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this to people who are skeptics or have only tried getting massages to release negative energy.”
